MP3 or WAV files? Which is better?

Today we received an inquiry: "Hello, I would just like to know what sound quality the tracks on the EYVO are recorded in? WAV 48kHz and 24bit?"

Here is our answer:
Every professional music is recorded in 48kHz and 24bit, also so that it can be further processed well. WAV files are much larger than MP3 files and so they are usually converted to MP3 and that for "normal music lovers" without audible loss and 90% smaller than a WAV file.

From the Teufel Blog (HiFi Professionals): A rule often mentioned states that above a bitrate of 192 Kbit/s, data loss no longer significantly impacts the listening experience. In this respect, the MP3 format can also achieve a clear sound. The file format alone does not necessarily say anything about the quality of the audio signal.

The music and sounds on eyvo are MP3 with bitrates from at least 256 to 360. ... WHEREAS ...

IT IS IMPORTANT TO SAY: eyvo is not a HiFi device!

It has a completely different approach. It's about feeling music and sounds!

If you are a true HiFi freak, you know that you need a system costing thousands of euros to enjoy "true HiFi". I, for example, have a B&O system (high end and still far from highest end :) at home and enjoying music with eyvo is something completely different!

Although eyvo, like any other vibration player, cannot reproduce stereo, the sound is 360° surround and you cannot pinpoint where the sound is coming from. Not all music is suitable for eyvo, and I am very happy when high-end musicians like Thomas Simmerl, Fernando Antonio dos Santos ... can engage with eyvo. It can be a challenge for musicians that "their music" sounds different with eyvo on every surface. Because eyvo has no loudspeaker, but rather causes any resonant surface to vibrate and thus turns it into a loudspeaker.

Enjoy music with headphones AND feel it with eyvo!

You can enjoy the music from eyvo and, for example, from your mobile phone with headphones AND feel the vibration with eyvo! There is a practical adapter for iPhone and for Android users, a normal audio splitter is sufficient. (coming soon to our shop)

With this, you can enjoy any music from your mobile phone via eyvo (and, for example, enjoy all your playlists from Spotify (Spotify streams in MP3 quality ;). Another plus with this adapter is that you can quickly charge your iPhone at the same time and that the audio quality is 48 kHz, 24-bit. (only relevant for HiFi fans)

CONCLUSION: A normal music lover does not hear the difference between MP3 and WAV, and for enjoyment with eyvo and any other vibration player, it is irrelevant whether it's good quality MP3 or WAV. When enjoying with eyvo and headphones, you can also hear 3D surround sound, binaural beats (they need stereo), and stereo in general.

Here's a video on how to use the adapter for your iPhone:
